The National Spinal Injuries Centre (NSIC) has recently launched a new IMS MAXIMS solution for its patient records system. The MAXIMS Spinal System is specifically designed for spinal injuries.

The solution allows staff to update records, implement care plans and improve sharing of information between healthcare staff.

Based at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, and part of Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust, NSIC cares for patients across the UK and abroad. High quality patient records are crucial, as patients often require highly specialized care from staff across several disciplines including consultants, occupational therapists, nurses and more.

“Our new solution is helping staff to carry out their roles effectively as they now have all relevant information about a patient in a single view,” noted Shane Tickell, IMS MAXIMS CEO. “There are no problems with lost or mislaid files, with unreadable handwriting, or with information – like times and dates – being missed from the record.”

Prior to the launch of the new system, NSIC relied on paper records. Now, the staff benefits from a fully electronic patient records system and mobile computers for viewing and updating data at the patient’s bedside.

“It’s a real advance because it promotes patient-centred care and interdisciplinary working. It also saves time for staff,” said Claire Guy, NSIC rehabilitation program lead, who spearheaded the launch of the system.
