Pansonic has revealed a new iteration of its stalwart ruggedized, the Toughbook 20, which carries several features geared for healthcare organizations.
This latest laptop follows other Panasonic Toughbook and Toughpad devices that can be used by first responders, in emergency rooms, field hospitals, and by clinicians in numerous environments. Enhanced enterprise-level security features help users secure patient data.
The Toughbook 20 detaches to become a 10.1" tablet and features a durable design along with a magnesium alloy chassis so it can withstand bumps and bruises from job site activity.
Weighing 3.9 pounds, the Toughbook has a built-in handle that also functions as a kickstand, providing on-the-job flexibility. An optional bridge battery allows hot swap replacement without disruption, while a gloved multi-touch display is sunlight-viewable for outdoor environments.
The Toughbook 20 offers six usage modes, including as a laptop to capture large amounts of data in the field, a flipped tablet to show patients medical images at the bedside, and using the built-in handle as clinicians move from one location to the next.
Panasonic said the Toughbook 20 will be available in early 2016.
