Virtual women’s health clinic Midi Health announced it is making it easier for women to get testosterone hormone therapy in response a demand for the treatment, which it claims plays a vital role in maintaining women’s libido, energy, mood and cognitive function.
Through the offering, Midi clinicians create a customized care plan based on a person's symptoms, medical history, lifestyle and care preferences that focuses on hormone health, perimenopause management, longevity and aging.
It also provides patients with hormonal and non-hormonal medications, supplements and lifestyle coaching.
"Women have been excluded from testosterone therapy for decades. The fact there’s still no FDA-approved option for women in the U.S. is a glaring inequity that leaves millions suffering in silence," Joanna Strober, chief executive officer and cofounder of Midi Health, said in a statement.
"We are disrupting that system by expanding access and fighting for the change women deserve. Our offering provides ongoing care from clinicians who personalize treatment plans and check in regularly to ensure women are getting the results and support they need, all while being covered by insurance. We are on a mission to make this process easier for women and remove the laborious hoops patients have to go through to get access to testosterone hormone therapy."
THE LARGER TREND
In October, Midi Health raised $50 million in Series C funding led by Advance Venture Partners.
Last year, Midi added a group of female investors to its oversubscribed $63 million Series B round of funding via a $5 million Special Purpose Vehicle.
Midi Health secured a $60 million in Series B funding earlier that year in a round led by Emerson Collective, with participation from Google Ventures. The company used the funds to expand its product offerings.
The investors included actors and producers Amy Schumer and Connie Britton, soccer star Brandi Chastain and fashion designer/entrepreneur Tory Burch.
The venture fund run by former Meta COO Sheryl Sandberg and her husband Tom Bernthal, Waymo co-CEO Tekedra Mawakana, Stripe executive Claire Hughes Johnson, PagerDuty CEO Jennifer Tejada and Toast CFO Elena Gomez also participated in the round.
That same year, digital musculoskeletal care company Hinge Health and Midi Health teamed up to combine Hinge’s movement-based support with Midi's virtual care clinic to support women experiencing menopausal symptoms.
The partners provided a holistic approach to help women manage menopause and address musculoskeletal symptoms that many women experience during menopause, including joint and muscle pain.
Midi Health also collaborated with New York-based Mount Sinai Health System to provide specialized care and personalized treatment plans based on protocols developed by experts in women's midlife health.
Midi's virtual clinic supports patients' continued connection to the expertise and care of their Mount Sinai-affiliated practices and employee health centers, directly or through their benefits programs at work.
